Dinners in our home are a big deal. We always try to eat together as a family when our schedules allow, no matter how busy we are. The food, the family, the mealtime traditions all make for a “Saucesome” experience. My family also enjoys when they get to try new and unique recipes I create like the one I’ll share below.
My family loves to eat anything that involves pasta and sauce: Chicken Alfredo, Lasagna, Spaghetti, Chicken Parmesan…I decided to change it up. I was asked to put a spin on the classic Ragú® Chicken Parmesan recipe. That’s just what I did. We decided to make Chicken Parm Lasagna.
Lasagna is a great meal to make with your family because it is easy to make. Your children can help you layer everything from dumping on the sauce and sprinkling on the cheese and meat to laying down the noodles. Use this to teach your kids not only about cooking but also about patterns! My kids helped me eat the extra noodles.
Dinner is an important time of day that should be enjoyed bonding with family. No electronics, everyone together, lots of socializing. Make a big meal, talk about your day, get a little messy, and laugh a little. My kids definitely take care of the getting messy part and I take care of making everyone laugh. Check out their Saucesome ‘staches.
What do you talk about at the table with your family? We talk about work or things that went on at the house, different exciting things we saw or experienced, what fun we are going to have after dinner (last night we all tried out our new firepit and ate s’mores!)
How do you make your mealtimes “Saucesome”? Do you cook with your family? Do you talk about your day? Do you goof around? Do you have any mealtime traditions?
Chicken Parm Lasagna
Ingredients
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan
- 9 lasagna noodles, cooked
- 2 cups chicken, cooked and shredded
- 5 slices mozzarella cheese cut into pieces
- 2 cups Ragú® Chunky Tomato, Garlic & Onion pasta sauce
- 1 Tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 cup Italian herb bread crumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
1. If you haven’t already, cook the noodles and chicken then shred the chicken.
2. Mix together the ricotta cheese and parmesan.
3. Start layering the lasagna. First, add a little l sauce (mixed with salt and pepper) to the bottom of the pan (I used a glass 9 x 13 pan) so that the noodles don’t stick during cooking.
4. Add a layer of noodles, three across.
5. Add a layer of sauce.
6. Add the chicken and cheese. When you add the ricotta and parmesan mixture, just add little spoonfuls here and there.
7. Do each step again to make another layer.
8. For the top layer, just add another 3 noodles across and drizzle on the olive oil.
9. Sprinkle the bread crumbs on top for a crispy layer.
10. Bake at 300ºF for about 30 minutes until everything is melted and warmed.
11. Let sit a little before cutting then cut into 12 squares. Serves 6.
12. Add extra parmesan and sauce to the top if desired.

oh my, this is the best of both worlds chicken parm and lasagna! So cute the picture of them chowing down! I try to have meals be Saucesome and keep the conversation pleasant enough that no argument starts!!
They loved it. Haha definitely agree with that #saucesome tip.

This is a very easy recipe, and I would love to try making it for dinner this week. I like Ragu! It is the best tasting pasta sauce, and I will have to get some and make your wonderful recipe!
We like Ragu too. Were you able to try it out? I hope you loved it!
How delicious is this? I much prefer chicken to ground beef so this is perfect for my family!
Thank you, Jennifer!
I’m so excited to try this. I’m making it for a family gathering tomorrow. I’m doubling it and had to make my own marinara since one person can’t have onions, but I’m sure it’s going to be delicious! I got rotisserie chicken to use in it for a shortcut and I’m using the no boil noodles.
This was amazing! Everyone loved it! Thank you so much for this recipe, it’s a keeper!!!
That sounds amazing! I’m so glad to hear it turned out great and everyone loved it. Thanks for sharing!
