Everyone knows the moon is made of cheese, right? Well, maybe it’s not really made of cheese, but it sure is fun to imagine and that was the inspiration for this “The Hungry Moon” printable placemat for kids, perfect for mealtime or snack time.
I participated in Mom Blog Tour Sweets & Snacks Expo (#MomBlogTourFF) on behalf of Wendy’s Bloggers. I received Moon Cheese products to facilitate my post, but my opinion and creative content are my own.
Because I love making everything fun, I wanted to come up with an exciting way to serve my boys Moon Cheese snacks. Since you’re probably wondering what Moon Cheese is, imagine a crunch like a cracker and a punch of delicious cheese flavor combined. Ya, that’s Moon Cheese– 100% JUST CHEESE that is “crunchified” for a unique, cheesy experience.
As I brainstormed, my imagination took the liberty of floating away from me and soon it was among the stars and talking with the Man in the Moon. He told me he enjoys eating Moon Cheese until he is full.

Moon Cheese and “The Hungry Moon” Printable Placemat for Kids
Sometimes getting my kids to eat all of their food is a challenge, so I decided to do a fun printable placemat for kids with a path of food. They start at “The Hungry Moon” and have to help him eat the snacks or lunch items on each “cheese asteroid” until they reach “The Full Moon” at the end.
My boys are loving using these placemats! They have pulled them out for every meal.
I love the combination of gouda cheese and candied pineapple, so I used those at snack time, but my kids have also used these with chicken, apples, pieces of hamburgers, and more. Moon Cheese has four great flavors to choose from: Gouda, Cheddar, Pepper Jack, and Mozzarella.
My oldest, E, loves Moon Cheese. It’s so fun to eat! My favorite variety is Pepper Jack. I simply can’t put that one down.
Moon Cheese is perfect for lunches, because it’s packed with protein and calcium, it’s all-natural and gluten-free, and it won’t go bad in lunch boxes. It’s also a delicious and super easy snack for after school, summer break snacks, or on-the-go snacking!
The placemats feature a vintage-inspired hand-drawn illustration by yours truly along with a trail of “cheese asteroids” inspired by Moon Cheese snacks. I love finding ways to make fun activities educational, so I added some fun facts about the moon, such as the phases of the moon and the origin of the idea that the moon is made of cheese, to give children something to read while they eat.
