Playards have been a huge help to us in the past with our oldest boy, especially as a military family when we would travel back home for a visit or when we were waiting for all our things to be shipped to our new base and needed a place for Little Man to sleep. Our previous playard worked for us during that time as our son was a bit older, but we needed a new playard that was better for a smaller baby once our new baby boy came along so we tried the Ingenuity Washable Playard Deluxe with Dream Centre in the super cute Emerson design. Let me tell you, I will never go back to a playard like the one we had before!

We decided to take an impromptu trip to a hotel not too far from home for a couple days so we brought along our Ingenuity Washable Playard Deluxe. Having a safe, clean, and comfortable place for our newborn to play and sleep and a special place just for diaper changes made our trip run so smoothly. The playard was easy to transport, put up, and take down.
What I Love
This Ingenuity playard is great for smaller and bigger babies with its removable bassinet, not to mention preventing mommas from getting backaches from having to bend all the way down to pick up small babies who cannot sit or stand yet. Unlike other playards with bassinets that we have tried, the Ingenuity Washable Playard Deluxe is flat and secure with a zipper so I do not have to worry that the bassinet will rip off and fall or shake all around being uncomfortable and dangerous for my precious baby. Most of the others we have tried have multiple plastic hooks that simply rest on the top rail or hook into many little fabric straps that overtime wear down and rip off. I love that the bassinet is so sturdy and safe yet so easy to remove.
The Washable Playard Deluxe also has a Dream Centre for newborns with a canopy and the most adorable plush hippos hanging over your baby’s head for your little one to relax for a nap. The Dream Centre has soft, cozy fabric, a pillow piece to cradle baby’s head, and is deep enough that your child will feel secure and not able to roll over and out. My son loves napping in the Dream Centre!
I love that this playard goes one step further and includes a changing area with an organizing caddy. This means that you will not have to change a stinky diaper where your baby sleeps and there will be plenty of rooms to store all the diapers and wipes and bottom cream you need to have within arms reach. The basket comes with an extra removable covering to prevent the basket from getting dirty during changes–simply remove the extra cover and wash it! The changing table hooks and unhooks easily from the top rails of the playard so you can move it if needed. When our son slept, I just unhooked part of it and flipped it over so it hangs neatly over the accessory tray–this way I could easily hook the table back up for changes, did not need to find a place to store it, and if my son was big enough to start grabbing things he would not have been able to pull out diapers from the caddy.
This Ingenuity playard comes with a device that plays music for your baby. The unit slips right on and off of the top rail of the playard so you can remove it easily if it is bedtime and you need some quiet. The songs and sounds are soothing and enjoyable and you are able to adjust the volume.
I would have to say my very favorite quality of this playard is that it is machine washable, even the mattress! I cannot tell you how very awesome this is!! When we first moved into our current house and our oldest was still in a crib we had to wait for his crib to be shipped so we had him sleep in a playard. Well, one night he leaked out of his diaper all over the playard. I tried to wipe it down and my husband tried to clean it too, but it just soaked everything in and became discolored. A simple wipe-down was just not enough. Thankfully, our crib came in around this time so we transitioned our son into the crib as a daybed and threw the playard away, but how much easier would it have been if I could only have tossed the soiled parts in the washing machine! In my opinion, an entirely washable playard is the greatest improvement in playards to date!
What I’m Not Huge On
As with most playards, getting the top rails to click can be tricky so it took us a while to figure it out. Eventually we were able to get it to stick thanks to some tips in the manual and now that we know the trick we can set it up much more quickly.
I mentioned above how much we love the cute Dream Centre area, which we do, but I would prefer it was slightly easier to remove when needed. Of course, it hooks on in a way that keeps your baby safe, which I love, but it could use buttons that are a little larger or something for take-down. My husband can remove it with no issues, but my fingers would get a little sore trying to get it loose.
Lastly, We also had a little bit of an issue fitting our playard into the travel bag intended for it; I cannot get the bag to zip. I am sure we will figure out the trick eventually. Nonetheless, it fits in the bag enough to tote around places.
Overall, I absolutely love this playard–its versatility, sturdiness, functionality, and mommy-friendliness! While it could use some very minor adjustments, the Ingenuity Washable Playard Deluxe with Dream Centre definitely has the market on playards in my opinion.
Bonus Tip: Have a baby who can sit up? I saw this neat idea on Pinterest to put balls inside to make a ball pit! How fun!

Right? Machine washable is going to come in handy at some point I’m sure with a messy baby!
