Transformers Rescue Bots Optimus Prime Rescue Trailer Review

Disclaimer: I received a free product for my post! These views are my own and were not
at all influenced by the party who gave me this opportunity..

transformers optimus prime rescue toyMy son is a HUGE Transformers fan (he gets that from his Daddy!) so when we had the opportunity to try out the Hasbro Playskool Transformers Rescue Bots Optimus Prime Rescue Trailer toy he was so excited, especially because “Octonauts Prime,” as he calls him, is his favorite! He has had a great time helping me test this toy and he takes it everywhere we go and even brings it to bed most nights, singing the theme song as he plays!

It comes with both Optimus Prime who changes into a semi truck as well as a car carrier trailer. I didn’t realize it at first, but my husband figured out that the trailer also turns into a 27-1/2 inch wing span for Optimus Prime robot mode so our son now enjoys flying him around like an airplane around the house. When the trailer is assembled, it attaches to the Optimus Prime semi truck and holds my son’s other car toys so he can drive them around the room!

The Optimus Prime Rescue Trailer toy is made for ages 3-7 years. I love the simplicity of transforming from robot mode to vehicle mode and back to robot mode so my 3-year-old has no issues changing Optimus Prime into a vehicle and vice versa. Prime is 10 inches tall and chunky to easily fit into little hands. My only complaint on this would be at 3-years-old (and even I as an adult) when you bend Optimus’ stomach back to form the truck it takes a little effort making it easy to pinch your fingers if they are not where they should be. This only happened the first couple times my son tried to bend it himself, but he seems to know where to place his fingers now. Besides this, he can convert his toy in an easy 1, 2, 3 steps! The trailer is a little more difficult for him to put together on his own, but it is still possible for him even at age three.

The car carrier trailer folds down so your child can drive cars up the ramp into the carrier. The sides are made from a flexible plastic so it is not easy to break this toy. My son did manage to bend it out of shape just a little bit, but it was easily bent back into shape to fold back up correctly.

The package comes with stickers that you can put on yourself to decorate Optimus Prime and his trailer. Some pieces did not come off for me perfectly as they had thin pieces and I had an over-zealous little product reviewer trying to take it and play with it, but they pieced back together nicely and add a neat design. I do love the option to leave the stickers off as well and there are even stamped out designs on the plastic beneath where the stickers go if you choose to leave them off.
