twigtale personalized storiesHelping your children cope with different changes and stages in their lives, whether it is starting a new school, preparing for a new sibling, or potty training, can often be challenging for us as parents. While we as parents are somehow able to help our kids through these, additional resources to help are always welcome and Twigtale Personalized Stories are a great resource for these transitions.

My husband and I are contemplating putting our oldest son into school early this coming Fall as we both feel he is ready from the learning aspect, but we are already trying to prepare him for the social aspect, being away from us, and understanding that his teachers are there to take care of him and teach him. I decided to make the “Starting School” book for him.

The Starting School book includes a variety of pictures of my son so he can really relate to the book and see himself in the story. The story talks about everything from morning routines to missing Mommy and Daddy to some fun activities your child will do in class. Since my son doesn’t have a school yet, I either left blanks for specific names or used a generic word.

twigtale book readingMy son and I read the book and I could tell he really understood it. He would point at the pictures and tell the story in his own words then we would read what the page said. The story is not very long so I was able to keep his attention without him wandering off and the pictures of himself kept him even more interested. After we finished reading, he ran to grab his backpack and told me he was going to school! Now I have to explain that it won’t be for a few months, but he is ready to go! After reading the personalized book to your child, you can have quiz time or questions and answers to help them grasp what the book is saying and clarify parts your child may not understand.

Twigtale books are created by child development experts in a way that is easy for your children to understand and paves the way for you to easily explain the books in more detail. The books identify what your child needs help with, everything from ages and stages to anxiety and fear to emotional development, family changes, and identity and self esteem, and they even have blank books for situations that they have not covered like coping through deployments. There are blanks for personal pictures and areas to adjust their wording to fit each situation better so the books fit your child perfectly.
