This past weekend we had my son’s golden birthday party. Alongside his party, we celebrated the world record-breaking Fit Made Fun Day with LeapFrog and Clif Kid.
The LeapFrog LeapBand we received is so much fun! It is a digital watch for kids to wear and you can customize challenges for your kids to get them moving and they earn “joules” for their time. They can use those “joules” to buy things for their digital pets (a dinosaur, a dog….) It even has activities your children can do with the pets like dancing, playing with a ball, giving them a bath, or making a balanced meal! My oldest son thinks it is pretty cool and I loved seeing him “wiggle like a worm” and “crawl like a turtle.” Learn more about the LeapBand HERE.
We like to encourage our kids to be active and healthy so this was a great opportunity. Since we had this party with my son’s birthday party, we changed things around a bit to fit his “Four the Troops” theme. We had healthy snacks like cheese and crackers, carrots, and grapes and we played some fun games and activities to get the kids moving. My oldest son wore the LeapBand for a little bit for the games, but his older cousin ended up wearing it more and loved it.
For the “Advanced Training” activities, we did a fun group of challenges with the LeapBand. We started off by doing the “snorkel dance” modified to the helicopter dance. The kids had to swing their arms back and forth and spin in circles like a helicopter. We moved onto making “grass soldiers” where the kids had to lie down on the ground and salute like a soldier. Our last activity was a “follow the leader” obstacle course. Each of the kids spread out their arms to make airplane wings. They had to “fly” over the mountains made of sport cones, under the bridge of boxes, and around the clouds of balloons (the balloons did not last well in the high heat, so I would recommend using signs on posts and cut them to look like clouds.) The kids had a blast doing this over and over. Of course, getting that many little kids to follow the directions was a bit of a challenge in and of itself, but they got moving and that was the whole point.
We made sure to have water and juices available to each of the kids, especially on such a hot day, because staying hydrated is very important. Protein is also important for active kids, so a thank-you for coming, the kids each received a package that included some Clif Kid Zbar Protein samples! Of course, I tasted some myself too with my son and they taste amazing–not just for kids! Learn more about Clif Kid Zbar Protein HERE.
