Being from Wisconsin, I really love beer cheese with pretzels. It’s one of those treats we order on occasion when we go out to eat. I decided to bring it home in this delicious Steak and Beer Cheese Macaroni & Cheese.
I participated in Mom Blog Tour Sweets & Snacks Expo (#MomBlogTourFF) on behalf of Wendy’s Bloggers. I received Coleman products to facilitate my post, but my opinion and creative content are my own.
This Steak and Beer Cheese Homemade Macaroni & Cheese is made with Coleman Steak Snacks. They are along the lines of a beef jerky snack, but are made with premium ingredients and are tender rather than dry and tough. Cooked into this delicious pasta recipe, Coleman Steak Snacks provide a burst of steak flavor and texture.
I was inspired to create this recipe around Father’s Day when I was trying to think of “manly” dinner ideas my husband may enjoy. This came to mind as the perfect “manly” dinner, though it is great for everyone. Yes, it does use alcohol, but the alcohol will evaporate with boiling so it will only leave a yummy, savory beer cheese flavor behind.

Steak and Beer Cheese Macaroni & Cheese
This homemade macaroni and cheese was made in two pots/pans, but you can make it in one to save on dishes, just set the noodles aside after cooking. Rather than making this “macaroni & cheese” with the traditional macaroni elbow noodles, I went for something fancier…cavatappi noodles (aka corkscrews), but you can use whatever noodles you choose.
SECRET WORD: dinnerfordads
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (16 oz) Cavatappi noodles, cooked and drained
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 can (12 oz) beer
- 1/3 cup Coleman Steak Snacks (I used Original flavor), minced
- 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 2 Tablespoons cream cheese
- 4 cups shredded white cheddar cheese
- 1 green onion, sliced (optional)
Prepare the pasta and set aside. Do not place this back on the hot stove (and I recommend not leaving in the pan either) as it can burn and stick to the pot/pan.
Melt the butter in a large pan (a pot will work okay too). I recommend slicing the stick of butter into Tablespoons so it melts more quickly.
Add the beer and bring the mixture to a boil. Continue to cook on medium heat for 5 minutes.
Whisk in the salt, pepper, dry mustard, and Steak Snacks. Continue cooking another 3 minutes.
Add the cream cheese and whisk it in as it melts down, until the mixture is smooth.
Add the shredded white cheddar cheese a little at a time, whisking it in until smooth.
The consistency should be smooth and creamy and medium thickness so it will stick to the pasta.
Fold the cooked Cavatappi noodles into the beer cheese sauce until combined.
Optional: top with green onion. Serve hot.
This creamy macaroni & cheese recipe is so delicious!
Serve some up for guests on game day!
Coleman Premium Steak Snacks come in three varieties: Original, Cracked Pepper, and Sweet Teriyaki. They are perfect for road trips, camping, quick snacks, or just because (and, of course, in Steak and Beer Cheese Macaroni & Cheese).
Steak and Beer Cheese Pasta
The tender texture of the steak pieces perfectly compliments the creamy beer cheese pasta.

- Whisk in salt, pepper, dry mustard, and Steak Snack pieces. Continue cooking for 3 more minutes.
- Add cream cheese and whisk until smooth.
- Slowly add in the shredded cheese, about ½ cup at a time, until well-mixed and smooth. The sauce should have a creamy, medium-thick texture.
